The Millbrook Landscape

Millbrook started out as an operational wheat farm in the 1860’s. The Butel brothers who owned the farm were keen plantsmen and they planted most of the established trees on the resort.

After the devastating flood of 1862, the brothers supplied the local community with willow trees to help stabilize the banks of the Arrow River.

The farm also produced Elderberry wine from its own Elders, harvested nuts from its own nuttery, (the remnants can be seen behind the Hole In One lounge bar) and grew fruit trees on what is now known as Orchard Hill.

The brothers had an obvious love of trees and the resort is home to many magnificent specimens from around the world.
