As a resort committed to sustainability, we’re constantly seeking ways to improve our practices and reduce waste in our cafés and restaurants.

When the idea came up to turn coffee grounds into soap, it just made sense. Our Hole In One Café and Clubhouse is open seven days a week and serves many daily coffees, which means we end up with a significant amount of coffee grinds that would otherwise go to waste.

Coffee grinds are known for their exfoliating properties and are effective in removing dead skin cells. Research also suggests that compounds found in coffee can promote healthy skin, while the antioxidants derived from caffeine may boost collagen levels and reduce premature aging. Hence, what better way to repurpose our coffee grinds produced by our café than by transforming them into luxurious coffee-infused soap. What’s even better is that any leftover coffee grinds that don’t get made into soap are added to Millbrook’s compost which goes into our Kitchen Garden.

To help bring our vision to life, we have collaborated with The Soap House, a local soap-making business in Queenstown, who have created these beautiful soap bars.

Made from sustainable ingredients, these not only benefit your skin but also the environment. As well as this, our soaps cure for 4-6 week, ensuring they retain their peak freshness.

We are excited to introduce these soap bars into our Golf Shop and Spa, for sale to visitors, and include them as part of our hotel guest amenities, providing our guests with the chance to buy them during their stay.

If you're wanting to experience the indulgence of these luxurious soap bars, you can grabs yours by ordering through our Spa Products page.
