Queenstown’s Millbrook Resort, which is hosting the 102nd New Zealand Open presented by Sky Sport between March 2 - 5, is sponsoring the all-important final hole of the iconic event with an amazing prize to commemorate the resort’s 30-year anniversary.

Any professional or amateur who plays in this year’s tournament and cards a hole-in-one on the 18th hole of The Remarkables course across the first two tournament days - or on the weekend course on Saturday or Sunday - will win a week’s holiday at Millbrook for the next 30 years.

The luxury golf and lifestyle resort was a pioneering leader in the development of its first 18-hole golf course married with world-class accommodation and facilities.

Millbrook Resort Director of Operations Brian Howie, described the 30-year anniversary as a “major milestone” for the resort and even more so when the timing coincides with the return of the tournament.

“It is a great opportunity to offer up an amazing prize package that celebrates both Millbrook’s 30th anniversary and the premier golf tournament in New Zealand being back-in-play,” he said.

The prize includes five nights’ bed and breakfast in a Deluxe Studio room for two people each year for a 30-year consecutive period. Also included each week are two rounds of 18-holes golf for two people including a cart, and a $1,000 resort credit which expires at the end of the accommodation booking each year.

If more than one player makes a hole-in-one, the prize will be shared equally between all the players who have won, ‘taking turns’ to claim their weeks at the resort.

Tournament Chairman John Hart said the prize would be the “icing on the cake” for any golfer, professional or amateur, competing at the event.

“Millbrook Resort has been a long-term supporter of the New Zealand Open for which we’re hugely grateful,” said Hart.

“We can’t wait for the tournament to be back in play and for the very first time, solely hosted at Millbrook Resort across their two 18-hole championship courses.”

Speaking about the hole-in-one prize that Millbrook Resort have put up for the tournament players, Hart is excited to see how each of the players attacks the hole, which is surrounded by not only water and bunkers, but also the fans who will add that extra edge.

“A golfing holiday at Millbrook is a bucket list item for most golfers across the world, but to have 30 years of holidays on offer will add that extra excitement for the players.

“I’m sure the watching galleries will be cheering on their favourites as they approach the 18th each day, and there’s nothing like a prize of this magnitude to raise the stakes and increase the nerves!”
